CotoPark Master Plan: A Dialogue between Nature and Achitecture.
(Under permissions approval) Architect in Charge Project in
Collaboration with Diez + Muller Arquitectos
The project is located at a privileged lot: in the heart of the Ecuadorian Andes, 60 minutes from the city of Quito, and surrounded by several tourist and natural elements such as:
Cotopaxi National Park, Illinizas Ecological Reserve, Rumiñahui Volcano and Sincholagua Volcano. The lot has an area of 106118 m2. with a frontage of 226 m to the main highway of the country, The E35 Pan-American Highway. CotoPark master plan is based on the study and understanding of how an architectural object for commercial purposes can be respectfully inserted into a natural context. The proposal recognizes the characteristics of the site, so that the project integrates and dialogues with its environment.
The identity of the place, aligned with certain elements of the area's own architecture, have been starting points for a project that offers the user an experience and coexistence with nature a few minutes away from the city. The proposal is developed under the following design axes: Adaptation to the place, sustainability, construction techniques and materiality, commercial proposal, and dialogue with the landscape. The project site has been developed in such a way that it positions itself as a new meeting point. It is minimally invasive with the image of the site, but with an important presence that accentuates the conditions of the place. The vision for this project is a flexible and dynamically growing object. It generates an infrastructure that can adapt to the commercial needs that may arise in the future. However, the proposed architecture seeks to transcend the outstanding elements of the place, such as the landscape and the object's own architecture, providing flexibility to a dynamic object that maintains its essence and adapts to new forms of commerce.
