House In Carcelen

Team: Juan Tohme

House in Carcelen is a three-story residential project structured through a modular system that balances formal clarity with spatial complexity. While the architecture is defined by a rational volumetric logic, the interior unfolds as a sequence of interconnected spaces that generate a contained domestic landscape.

The project is organized around a clear modular grid that ensures constructive efficiency and structural order. Within this framework, interior spaces are articulated through variations in height, visual connections, and controlled voids, allowing the house to be experienced as a continuous spatial field rather than as stacked floors.

Materiality plays a central role in reinforcing this concept. Exposed concrete and wood cladding define the building’s character, combining weight and warmth, permanence and tactility. These materials are used consistently across interior and exterior surfaces, strengthening the continuity between structure, enclosure, and inhabitation.

The third floor operates as a topological culmination of the project. Rather than functioning as a conventional upper level, it acts as a spatial and visual remate—opening the house toward distant views and integrating the surrounding landscape into the interior experience. This level establishes a dialogue between the contained domestic world below and the broader context beyond.

Carcelén House proposes a contemporary domestic architecture where modular order supports spatial richness, and where interior landscape, material continuity, and visual depth define the way the house is lived and perceived.
